PASTEL PAYROLL: NEW FEATURES PDF Print E-mail

The following product enhancements are included in Pastel Partner Payroll 2008 Update 2:

Employee Income Tax Return Guide

You will find this new report in the View…Statutory Reports menu. This report displays the employee’s IRP5 certificate information in a format similar to SARS’ IT 12 Personal Income Tax Return. Employers can print this report after printing their final IRP5 copies and hand it out to their employees to assist them with completing their annual income tax returns. This report will come in quite handy for employees who wish to complete the new, simpler IT12 form themselves, either manually or online via SARS’ eFiling facility.

Batch Transactions

The Batch Transactions function is now far more powerful:

  • You can create leave batches as well as payslip batches.
  • You can have multiple batches, each with a name you give them.
  • For payslip (i.e. not leave) batches, you can create recurring batches that you can re-use.
  • When you update a batch, you can update the current period only, or you can update the default / periodic transactions. In the latter case, the updates apply to all future periods.

Global Updates Add-on Module

The new Global Updates add-on module enhances batch transaction processing even further. This module allows you to create and/or update a single transaction at a time for multiple employees, using a template. For example, in one operation you can:

  • Place all or a group of employees on leave
  • Increase the basic salary of all or a group of employees by a percentage or fixed value

Once you specify the template, the system creates as many transactions as are required and places them in a transaction batch. You can check and modify them in the batch if necessary, and then update the employees, on a per period basis or on a permanent basis.

Reinstating Terminated Employees

When you reinstate an employee you previously terminated, you have the option of continuing to use the same employee record and masterfile or creating a new record and masterfile for the employee. If you create a new record, you need to provide a new employee code and the start date. The system copies the remaining employee information from the existing masterfile.

Legislative Updates

This latest update has the following legislative updates in addition to the standard tax table updates:

  • The latest MIBCO (Motor Industry Bargaining Council) medical aid plans
  • The latest changes to the NBCRFI (National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight Industry) Provident Fund, Holiday Pay fund and the new Wellness Levy • deductions and contributions
  • For Botswana, the latest ITW8, ITW10, and ITW10(a) formats
  • For Swaziland, the latest PAYE05 certificate format
  • For South Africa, the new OID earnings limit of R201,984.00 effective 1 March 2007
  • For South Africa, the new UIF earnings limit of R149,736.00 effective 1 October 2007

Bank Transfers Function

There are two new features:

1. We added the following EFT layouts to the Cheques/Bank Transfers function:

  • Netcash
  • PayAccSys
  • Capitec
  • NetBank Business Secure Format
  • Investec

2. In the Payment tab of the Company Parameters function, you can set the system to warn you in the Pay Period Update function, if you have not processed bank transfers and/or cheques for that pay period.

Print Multiple Copies of Reports

Pastel Partner Payroll now allows you to specify the number of copies to print of a specific report when printing your month-end reports. This way you will save even more time by not having to go through the navigating motions to reprint another copy of a report.

Emailing Reports

The system now remembers the last settings (i.e. e-mail address) you entered in the email message screen.

Contact Pastel Payroll via Email

If you have difficulty obtaining support or finding your distributor, you can contact Pastel Payroll via email. To do this, use the Help...Contact Us...Email Queries menu option. Select the type of help you require and the system will open an email message for you with the correct address set up for you.

Internet Links

Use the Utility...Weblinks menu option to access important web sites. You can customise this menu and add your own web sites.

BI Payroll - Excel Reporting

We updated this excel reporting module to be compatible with Microsoft ® Excel 2007.
